What does family mean to you
When we hear the word “family” many images come to mind. We think about our children, our partners, our parents, our brothers and sisters, our aunts, uncles, or cousins, our grandparents, our friends…
Family is about connection – it’s about the network of relationships that are important to us. Many of us have multiple families: we have families at home, at work, at church, at school, etc. These relationships are essential to us and when they are difficult we are unhappy and struggle in many ways.
We often lose connection and have difficulty communicating with our partners; we get stuck in the conflict with our children; we lose track of who we are; we dread going to work because it feels hostile or unsafe; we question our faith; we have trouble expressing our needs at school; and we neglect our bodies and our health. The relationships we have with ourselves and others are always evolving and we need to change with them.
At Family Matters Center for Relational Therapy, we want to help you strengthen the relationships that matter most to you and to the people you care most about.
